Iman Chakraborty

Iman Chakraborty is a renowned Indian singer. She was born on 13 September 1989 in Liluah, Howrah, West Bengal, India.

In childhood, she learned music from her late mother Trishna Chakraborty and got inclined towards the literary works of Rabindranath Tagore. Besides Rabindrasangeet, she has learned Hindusthani Classical music and folk songs from different parts of India. She is inspired heavily by Rabindranath Tagore.


Iman Chakraborty is a good quality songster who developed knowledge of all kinds of songs. The lucidity and great style of her singing attract the attention of the mass. People are more inclined towards her way of expression when she sings.

She get her first break when she approached Indian record label company Saregama, which decided to produce her first album 'Bosh te dio kachhe' in the Bengali language.

The album caught the eyes of composer Anupam Roy, who wanted to experiment with a fresh voice, with new vocal and tonal qualities, for his composition. She subsequently sang Roy's Bengali film song composition "Tumi Jaake Bhalobasho" which was her debut film song.

In 2016, She won the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for her Bengali song "Tumi Jaake Bhalobasho" from Praktan film.

Besides singing, Iman Chakraborty also appears as one of the mentors on Zee Bangla’s singing reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. She had also debuted in acting with the short film ‘Missing’ in 2020. She had further explored acting by featuring in the guest role in the movie Brahma Jaane Gopon Kommoti, where she played a housewife.
